Beaches

Myanmar has two coasts-the western Rakhaing coast facing the Bay of Bengal and the Southern Taninthayi coast. The Rakhine Coast, though generally rocky, has some lovely beaches. One such beach is the Ngapali, close to Thandway and is Myanmar's leading seaside resort.

Ngapali Beach

The famous location in Rakhine State from tourist point of view is Ngapali. It lies near the Thandwe district. It is one of the unusual beaches in Myanmar. The travelers can fly in 35 minutes from Yangon. By overland, it takes 14 hour drive along the road. The day is hot and the evening is refreshing cool. One can enjoy strolling, sunbathing, taking photograph etc. on the beach. The sunset of Ngapali beach is beyond description for those who have been on golfing and cycling, golf sets and bicycle are on hire.

Chaung Tha Beach

Chaung-Thar Beach is located 40 km to the west of Pathein (Bassein) in Ayeyawaddy Division. It is about 5 hours drive from Yangon via Pathein to Chaung-Thar Beach. There exist bungalow type hotels along the beach with modern facilities.

Ngwe Saung Beach

It is newly opened beach about 48 km from Pathein. This beach is unspoilt and stretches 15 km white sand and blue sea. There are full of bungalows and hotels facing the beach.

Kan Thaya Beach

It is located 290 km from Yangon near Gwa on the Rakhaing coast. It takes an 8 hour drive from Yangon over forested mountain road.
